Hitting the shelves just this August, the latest addition to Macmillan Young Listeners' Book and CD set collection is Pumpkin Soup, an endearing tale of friendship between a Cat, a Squirrel and a Duck by Helen cooper. So cute!
Every day, in their old white cabin deep in the woods, Duck, Squirrel and Cat make their pumpkin soup the same day. Each of the three friends has a task: Cat slices up the pumpkin, Squirrel stirs the water and Duck adds just the right amount of salt.
But one day, Duck decides he wants to stir the soup! When the friends start squabbling, Duck waddles off in a huff. Worried Cat and Squirrel go off into the woods to search for their friend, and in the end an important lesson about sharing is learned.
This musical and animated narrative, ready be Kathleen McInerney and lovingly illustrated by Cooper herself, makes a perfect bedtime story on those cold Fall nights. The Guardian describes Pumpkin Soup as, "A steamy mouth-watering triumph of a book." Best of all, there is a recipe for your own delicious pumpkin soup included at the end of the book!
